New School

Well, as I had feared the teachers called me back to let me know that all had decided that relocating Rebecca to a different school better equiped to teach her is the solution. Integrating her into a class of thirty children was just to much for her to handle. She will start her new school on Monday. She will be in a self-contained class of 15 kids with different disibilities. I will go see the classroom tomorrow. She is taking it better than I had expected. She is excited actually. On last Friday we went to her GI Specialist and got a recipe to start in her diet to help move things along better :) We went to Tampa over the weekend to see friends and watch the Patriots win and head to the Superbowl!!!! GO PATS ~ 18-0. Making NFL history.

school needing to make changes...

Well, I still haven't thawed out from my trip to Boston and this cooler weather we are getting here doesn't help. Rebecca wore her winter coat to school today. The teachers are concerned that Becca is falling behind in her academics in her new school setting (integrated class) so they called a meeting to see what more they could do. After the meeting they felt they had come up with some good ideas, but still felt there was more they could do. They have called in some ESE teachers from a different school to come and observe her in her class setting. After the observation they will go over and review everything with these other teachers. I am so scared that they will decide to change Rebecca's school. This school is not that equiped to teach a child like Rebecca. They do not have segregated classes, etc... I really hope they can keep her in this school, but if not I pray Rebecca will be ok being switched to yet another school this year. :( Meeting is tomorrow I will post more then.

A Great Mom Weekend

It is Monday and I have caught up on my rest from a wonderful weekend trip back home to Boston. I got to see my Uncle & Aunt, my cousins, and a Great Aunt, and four of my closest and dearest friends. Two days wasn't enough time and I hope to get back there soon with Becca and spend some more time. There is some definite Patriot fever going on up there. I miss it back home. So today I am helping Becca with a science project which her thesis is due in school tomorrow. "Which cheese molds the fastest" and it is a smelly project. It has been a great school vacation for her. She is a bit bored without her friends to play with, but she will meet new friends up here soon enough. It has been cold here in Florida, but today it is finally warming back up, I think I might be able to lay in the sun this week and catch some rays. You know when you meet someone and you have a feeling that that person will be in your life for a very long time? Well I have been in contact with someone has that strong connection with me, and I have a feeling once we meet, we will at the very least be friends for life. That is a great gift. Thanks to everyone back home for a wonderful weekend, it was a great way for me to start the new year!!
